Data Solutions Laboratory offers data recovery service from mobile devices (Android phones and tablets, iPhone, iPad, Windows phones) and SIM cards.
There are two possible causes for losing the data from mobile device: logical and mechanical failure.
Logical problems
- Deleted photos, video material, contacts, messages
- Factory reset
- Repartitioning
Mechanical failure
- Burned out chips
- Device came in contact with liquids
- Physical damage by dropping or hitting the device
Data recovery from mobile devices requires not only technology and knowledge but also experience. The process is more complex and longer comparing to the same failures on other types of media (HDD, memory cards, USB flash…).
The type of OS on your smartphone or tablet is not a limiting factor to our Laboratory. Other then from devices with standard Android, iOS and Windows OS, it is possible to recover data from older phones which have rather specific operating systems, although it depends on device and system type.
In case of logical failure, such as factory reset, it is very important not to use the device so that data recovery could be successful or at least acceptable to the client. Hard drives shouldn’t be used after deleting the data, for the same reason. When you delete data from some device, every activity can overwrite the deleted content and make data recovery impossible.
MOBILE DATA RECOVERY PROCESS:
In order to start data recovery on most of the new devices, it is necessary that the device is “rooted” i.e. to enable administrator access to that device (phone or tablet). It requires some changes in the device firmware. What does it mean for the clients? It means that the device warranty is void and the rooting process will be performed with clients consent and their liability because that device may stop working aka be “bricked”.
After that the access to internal memory can be provided and all physical sectors are cloned.
Then an analysis of the clone is performed, reconstructing the OS in question, and finally data recovery.

In case of mechanical failure, first it is necessary to enable device to work in order to repeat the procedure. Mostly, we recommend to our clients to do it at authorized service provider so they could use the warranty. After that, the process is the same.
