Carefully remove your hard disc from the computer case; wrap it in anti-static beg and close it with adhesive tape. Place wrapped hard disc in a cardboard box of appropriate dimensions, and then close the box. For more detailed instructions go to next page. When wrapping your hard disc, do not touch PCB as this may cause electrostatic discharge that might additionally damage your media.
 


There are different types of viruses and not all of them are designed to affect the logical structure of a hard disc. Many viruses ‘only’ use the processor time, in order to process a number of data on a large number of computers of average users. However, there are viruses that ‘infiltrate’ themselves in Master Boot Record of a hard disc in order to be easily loaded together with operating system and they corrupt the data structure. Either way, if your anti-virus program is helpless or a number of databases are still missing after virus has been removed, we suggest you wrapping your disk and shipping it to Data Solutions. If you continue to work on your hard disc, you might overwrite required databases and thus make the data recovery process more difficult.
 


Data Solutions has adequate tools for accessing HDA components, such as micro-mechanical lab i.e. clean place. Within the clean room we can access the disc case and repair / replace failed parts. With regards to mechanical damage repair, Data Solutions is not handling repair of hard disc or HDA, as tools required for this are very expensive and disc manufacturers usually have such tools. The reason for this is obvious: a need for high precision when mounting a large series of discs, high degree of cleanliness to eliminate dust in the next 15 000 to 20 000 working hours and market that would justify such investment.
 


Data Solutions utilizes technology for accessing RAID array data. However success rate of stripe disc recovery is somewhat lower.
 


Our Lab has adequate tools for accessing the UBA of almost all hard disc manufacturers: Quantum, Maxtor, IBM, Hitachi, Western Digital, Seagate, Nikimi, Samsung, Fujitsu, Toshiba and others. Data Solutions can successfully recover data stored in FAT, FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, HFS, EXT, EXT 2, EXT 3, REISER and other file systems. However, our customers usually deliver hard discs using Windows XP/98/Me operating systems designed as FAT32/NTFS; therefore statistics show the highest recovery rate with these file system. Our lab technicians often access ‘raw’ data (sector by sector) that are repaid later on. Such approach enables making copies of data from almost all file system.

Such programs are easily downloaded and installed, but a large number of these tools use the routines that not only scan hard disc but also write over it and thus make access to deleted data more difficult. In view of the above, in a large number of cases, we receive discs with additional logic structure damage.

Recovery of overwritten data above all necessitates precise diagnosis and experience. The procedure involves reading sector groups, and making changes within each individual file.
