Head Disk Assembly – HDA is the most sensitive part of any hard disk. Data stored on disk are located on the disk plates driven by spindle. Reading / writing data is accomplished by magnetic heads that float above the disk surface. Disk heads are driven by actuator.

Mechanical (HDA) failures are usually detected by a constant clicking or grinding noise after the start up sequence. Such noise occurs when reading/writing assembly comes in contact with the stopper.
